Topcliffe Local Activities
Topcliffe Snooker Club
The Snooker Club meets upstairs at the Toll Booth. It has one full sized table and a second smaller one. Members are given a key so that they can play at any time that suits them.
Anyone interested in joining should contact Dave Bowman on 577843
Topcliffe Bowling Club
It’s possible that not everyone in the village realises that Topcliffe has its own bowling green, which is tucked away at the back of the Playing Fields, just off Winn Lane.
Topcliffe Bowling Club has been going for over 30 years and is always on the lookout for new members. Men and women of all ages can join the club and Vice Chair Richard Wallis says: “There’ll be a very warm welcome to anyone who thinks they’d like to give it a go. Bowling is often seen as a sport for the more elderly but that is an outdated view as many younger people are taking part and having lots of fun. There’s also the pleasure of making new friends and taking part in a very enjoyable social gathering.”
The club has some spare woods so there is no need to buy any as you familiarise yourself with the game. You can play just for fun or enjoy some competition in the local League.
The club plays from April to August on Monday and Wednesday evenings from 6.30 to 9.30pm and on Friday afternoons from 1.45 to 4.30pm.
If you fancy seeing what’s involved pop along to try a game and meet some of the regulars. You’ll need to be wearing flat sole shoes or trainers if you want to play. Or if you just want a chat about the sport, please call Club Secretary Janet Sissons on 01609 781471, Chairman Les Chapman on 577026 or Vice Chairman Richard Wallis on 577437.
Topcliffe Carpet Bowls Club
The Club meets in the Village Hall from 7.30 to 10.30pm every Thursday evening and warmly welcomes new members. No equipment is needed as everything is provided by the club. If you are interested to see what happens then just come along. There is no need to commit yourself to membership, just try a few evenings and see if you would enjoy being part of our friendly group. For more information contact D Arkley 578728
Topcliffe Boccia Club
The Boccia Club continues to meet on Tuesdays at 1.30 p.m. in the Village Hall. Various games are played for fun, fitness and enjoyment, following which, tea is served. There’s often a raffle too! There are occasional summer outings and in December there is the very popular Christmas Lunch.
The Club is always ready to welcome new members, so any senior citizen feeling a bit lonely, please come along and give it a go. You will be in good company and should have an enjoyable time. For further information contact Judith Lowe on 577911.

1st Topcliffe Scouts
The Scout Section is for young people, boys and girls usually aged between 10½ and 14 years. A young person can come into the Troop at 10 and may stay until they are 14½ years old.
At 1st Topcliffe Scouts, we think that young people should be able to take advantage of the following opportunities that Scouting has to offer:
•Trying new activities
•Making new friends
•Getting outdoors
•Learning exciting things
•Having fun!
Every year between late April and mid-September, the Scouts hold meetings at Blair's Wood which is a couple of miles from Topcliffe village. Blair's Wood is great for Scouting in the outdoors and even has a portakabin which is ideal considering the changeable British weather!
