VE Day Celebrations
Friday 8 May 2020 was the anniversary of VE Day (Victory in Europe Day), marking 75 years since the formal end of the Second World War in Europe.
Topcliffe and Asenby Parish residents had planned various events including a series full blown street parties to mark the occasion. But the Covid-19 virus endemic, and resulting lockdown, put paid to all of these plans!
However, the local residents were not about let the occasion pass without celebration. The street parties went ahead, observing the governments strict social distancing rules - and local professional photographer Joanna Brierley was on hand to capture the occasion.
